Editorial Review:
Product Description: Warner Brothers Superman The Movie (Blu-ray) The story begins with Superman's birth on the doomed planet Krypton and follows him on his arrival to Earth, his childhood in Kansas and his career as reporter for the Daily Planet.
Amazon.com essential video: Richard Donner's 1978 epic about the Man of Steel showed how a film about a superhero could be a moving and romantic experience even for people who long ago gave up comic books. Beginning on the icy planet Krypton, the story follows the baby Kal-El, whose rocket ship lands in Smallville, Kansas. He is found there by a childless couple and raised as the shy Clark Kent (the young Kent is played by Jeff East). The film is perhaps most touching in these sequences, with expanses of wheat fields blowing in the wind and with a young man who can't figure out what part in destiny his great powers are meant to play. The second half, with Reeve taking over as Clark/Superman, is bustling, enchanting (the scene in which Superman flies girlfriend Lois Lane--played by Margot Kidder--through the night sky is great date material), and funny, thanks largely to Gene Hackman's sardonic portrayal of nemesis Lex Luthor. --Tom Keogh

I bought this movie for my grandson. I remember that Christopher Reeves did an excellent job as Superman and Gene Hackman as Lex. It's a good movie to sit back with some popcorn and enjoy.

I bought this as one of my first Blu-Ray discs, and as far as old movies set to Blu-Ray go, this one looks fantastic. If you love Superman, you'll love this disc.

Not a huge fan of this transfer, blu ray really exposes the problems with picture quality in a 1978 film release. all in all it's never looked better, defects and all.the extended and new scenes are cool the special features are ok but nothing you haven't seen before (in previous dvd releases of this) the movie is a blast of course. Hands down the best Superman movie ever made and on my top 5 greatest superhero movies ever. Shipping was fast and the item arrived in perfect condition. Good job Amazon!

Oops! Amazon.com; something went wrong. I know I will love seeing this original Christopher Reeve movie again, but this is the first time for me that you've goofed. Blu-ray was not what I ordered; I've sent it back, hoping that regular DVD format will be re-sent to me. Thanks for listening, Amazon.com. Sincerely and respectfully, Adisa Achaki.
We hope your enjoying browsing the Superman - The Movie [Blu-ray]
dvds and video store.
